Henry Jansen
Professional Engineer, ACCI, President, Owner
Henry J. Jansen, P.Eng., ACCI is president and owner of Criterium-Jansen Engineers. Henry started his office in 2007.
“There are 2 things that people will always need: food and shelter. Criterium-Jansen Engineers is in the shelter business.”
Henry graduated from McMaster University in 1992 and earned his P.Eng. license in 1994. He has always been a design engineer helping to solve problems. Engineering is applied science. Engineers use theory and then apply practical knowledge to develop solutions. As his career moved to business ownership, he partnered with Criterium Engineers as one of the building engineering leaders in North America.
Henry loves to help clients with their building needs and has developed strong industry leaders to meet the demands of our residential, commercial, and condominium clients. Criterium-Jansen Engineers is a family team.
Henry is currently on the Board of Directors for CCI-Grand River and Greater Dufferin Home Builders Association; is a proud member of the ACMO Associates Committee and Guelph and District Home Builders Association; and is a contributor to the PEO Performance Audit and Reserve Fund Committee. Henry also chairs the Annual Industry Luncheon for Greater Dufferin.
In his spare time, Henry enjoys spending time with family, renovating his home, and camping.
Marilyn Jansen
Vice President, Owner
Marilyn has been with Criterium-Jansen Engineers since it was founded in 2007. As Vice President, she organizes and coordinates the office operations and procedures in order to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
Marilyn takes care of finances and accounting, marketing, arranges for networking events/conferences, explores new venues for advertising the firm’s services and expertise, ensures proper organization and communication, and that the overall office environment is running smoothly.

In her spare time Marilyn likes to spend time with family, go camping, crochet, and bake.
Jim Rammos
Professional Engineer, EEEI, Director of Building Science & Restoration – BSR Team
Jim graduated from Ryerson University in 1991 and from the University of Toronto in 1993, and earned his P.Eng. license in 1995. Jim is a Senior Building Science Engineer and has 25 years of work experience in building science, thermographic scanning, mechanical and electrical engineering, new and restoration construction, and related environments. He possesses skills that give clients a sound understanding of all aspects of the building science umbrella, including building envelope investigations and assessments, reserve fund studies, mechanical and electrical systems design and assessments, due diligence, and building evaluation for real estate transactions.
Jim is a Certified Thermographer, a member of OACHI (Ontario Association of Certified Home Inspectors) and has his BCIN.
In his spare time, Jim is a hockey coach for a local team, he enjoys spending time with family, classic car restoration, and camping.
Jaime Rodriguez
B.Tech. Arch.Sc., C.E.T., RRO, Senior Project Manager – Building Sciences – BSR Team
Jaime joined Criterium–Jansen Engineers in the Spring of 2021. Jaime Rodríguez is a Certified Engineering Technologist and a graduate of Ryerson University with over 20 years of experience in the consulting industry specializing in building envelope engineering.
Jaime is primarily engaged in project management, condition assessments and building science/engineering design for the Building Science Engineering Team. He enjoys connecting with people in the industry and remaining informed about construction technology so that projects are up to date with the latest innovations. Jaime’s approach has always been hands-on, and he is not afraid to get his hands dirty.
As part of his enthusiasm for technology, Jaime is a consummate audiophile, always chasing the latest trends in equipment to enjoy music reproduction in the highest resolution sound.
Sheldon Peeters
Engineer in Training (EIT), Project Manager – BSR Team
Sheldon joined Criterium-Jansen Engineers in September of 2020 and is a graduate of the University of Toronto – Majoring in Civil Engineering, with a focus on Building Science and Environmental Engineering.
Sheldon manages our Reserve Fund projects, and assists the team with Performance & Technical Audits, Building Condition Assessments, and other site work. Growing up in rural Grey County, Sheldon has always been fascinated with construction and development – and strives to make sure buildings are built to be sustainable and equitable for all people. Sheldon enjoys engaging with our clients – and ensuring our work meets their needs.
In his spare time, Sheldon enjoys all things basketball, listening to podcasts, and thrifting.
Adrian Lau
Engineer in Training (EIT) – BSR Team
Adrian joined Criterium-Jansen Engineers in September 2022 and is taking a professional year from school to gain valuable experience in building science.
He works with the Building Science & Restoration (BSR) team to complete Performance Audits, Environmental Site Assessments and Tarion Bulletin 19 Reporting. He has also been able to work on some structural projects for the Building Engineering & Architectural Design (BEAD) Team. He is excited about all these opportunities to get a hands-on experience in the field and in-office with his team-mates to pursue his passion for how buildings work and how they are constructed.
In his spare time, Adrian likes to work with custom PC’s and learn about the latest advances in AI and technology.
Owen van Voorst
Co-Op Student – BSR Team
Owen joined Criterium-Jansen in May 2023 as a student and is in the Civil and Artificial Intelligence Systems Engineering program at Western University. While initially working in construction, he discovered a passion for Structural Engineering that has only grown stronger with time. His ultimate goal is to utilize his talents in AI to create ground-breaking innovations in this field.
Owen is extremely enthusiastic about his work and is eager to learn through hands-on experience. He is excited to explore the intricate process of Engineering, and further hone his passion for Structural Engineering.
When he’s not working, Owen loves to stay active through a variety of sports. He particularly enjoys climbing, martial arts, hockey, wakeboarding, and weight lifting.
Michael Aresta
Professional Engineer, Director of Building Engineering & Architectural Design – BEAD Team
Mike has been with Criterium – Jansen Engineers since the Spring of 2015. His specialty is in structural design – focussing on specialized engineering and construction techniques to provide outstanding solutions and projects. Mike has the ability to quickly address and resolve issues and keep the project moving.
Mike has always had a fascination for buildings, and Criterium – Jansen Engineers is a company whose specialty is buildings. As a result, Criterium – Jansen Engineers has allowed him to pursue his passion and has given him a great opportunity to get his engineering career off on the right foot!
Now here’s something not everyone can do – Mike can bench press 260 pounds!! Hmmm…how many 2×4’s is that?
Suja John
Professional Engineer, FEC, Senior Structural Engineer – BEAD Team
Suja has been a part of the Criterium – Jansen Engineers Team since Spring of 2016. Being a Structural Engineer allows her to fully focus on her specialty as she assists clients with multiple structural queries in the buildings she inspects.
Suja loves being part of the team that makes up Criterium – Jansen Engineers where we are able to bounce ideas off each other and work together to meet deadlines. She really enjoys the variety of work as it challenges her.
Fun thing to note about Suja is that she lived and worked in Singapore and the Middle East before making Canada home several years ago. Once in Canada, she worked with another consultancy and in the steel industry before joining Criterium – Jansen Engineers.
Mike Coleman
ATPS, Architectural Technician Project Specialist – BEAD Team
Mike Coleman has been with Criterium-Jansen Engineers since April 2018. Mike has always been passionate about the building trade and expanded his skills by obtaining an Architectural Technician Diploma from Sheridan College. Mike’s background includes being a carpenter working within the residential construction industry as well as Architectural Design while working for an Architect.
Mike loves to stay current on building science as it constantly evolves and uses that knowledge to help clients achieve a quality solution for their design requirements. Having a keen eye and a sharp attention to detail help create innovative and flexible solutions.
On a personal note, Mike is passionate about nature and the environment and loves to escape into cottage country when possible.
Sohrab Fadaeian
Professional Engineer, Masters in Structural Engineering – BEAD Team
Graduating with his Masters in Structural Engineering in 2010, Sohrab earned his Professional Engineering license in Quebec and Ontario. He joined the Criterium-Jansen team in Spring 2022.
Before becoming part of the Criterium-Jansen team, Sohrab lived and worked in Iran and the Middle East. When he first moved to Canada, he lived and worked in Montreal and now has the ability to speak French. He has found CJE to be a very respectable and reliable company with professional team members who give him an opportunity to work closely with clients, project managers, and other technical team members to provide support on design, engineering, planning and building inspections using his specialty in Structural Engineering.
In his spare time, Sohrab enjoys music and has the ability to play several instruments and sings as well.
Brad Brown
Architectural Technician – BEAD Team
Brad has been with Criterium-Jansen Engineers since July 2022. He has a strong architectural background which began at a masonry company. From here, he was encouraged to pursue a more technical approach to construction and decided head back to school and graduated with honors from the Architectural Technology program at Humber College. Brad has several years experience working in Residential, Commercial, Industrial, and Institutional projects.
Brad is a family man and enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 children. When he’s not at work, Brad likes being a coach for Special Olympics in Dufferin County. On weekends, he likes to wind down at his trailer and appreciates being outside in the fresh air.
Colin Judt
Co-Op Student – BEAD Team
Colin joined Criterium-Jansen in May 2023 as a Co-Op student from Mohawk College’s Architectural Technology program. He recognizes the foremost importance of safe, durable structures no matter the design. He is keen on developing his structural analysis and architectural knowledge. His previous background in Environmental Science and running his own landscape construction business set his curiosity to further pursue the construction industry and learn more about the Ontario Building Code (OBC) Requirements.
He is also passionate about climate change and the environment and wishes to apply high-performance building standards (Passive House) into sustainable building designs in the future.
In his spare time, you can find him golfing, skiing, sailing, camping, wood working, playing guitar or tackling a small reno. Is there such a thing as having too many hobbies?
Tammy Hoving
Office Administrator
Tammy joined the Criterium-Jansen Engineers team in August 2016. In her role as Office Administrator, Tammy provides support for the engineers and clients. A variety of tasks include communicating with the clients, assisting with completing reports, helping with organizing and coordinating the office operation and with administrative tasks.
She loves working at Criterium-Jansen Engineers because of the fun, friendly, family-like atmosphere.
In her spare time, Tammy likes to read, play board games and watch movies with her family.
Alicia Downe
Administrative Assistant
Alicia joined Criterium-Jansen Engineers in September 2022 as the Administrative Assistant support for the engineers and clients. A variety of tasks include communicating with the clients, recording job information, filing, editing and printing projects for clients.
Alicia was born in Orangeville and moved to attend the University of Waterloo. She and her husband returned to Orangeville to work and raise their family.
Alicia loves working at Criterium-Jansen Engineers because it’s very interesting work with the opportunity to truly learn something new everyday and the hours offer her the flexibility to drop off and pick up her young sons to and from school.
Alicia likes to go for long runs and read. With her kids, Alicia likes to be outdoors, canoeing, hiking, and fishing.
